“A student team after a board year? Why not!” And that is how I started another year of evading my studies. In the past year I did however learn a lot. Not only did I got to know the inner workings of a solar powered car, but also what goes on before and after the design of a project. The hassle of designing a working ánd efficient product and how to make sure the manufacturing is foolproof. And to top it all off, end with an amazing race in South Africa.

For the last 8 years Project MARCH has pushed exoskeleton technology. The vision of Project MARCH is to improve the quality of life for people with paraplegia using exoskeleton technology. Solar Boat Twente was founded in 2016 and has been designing, building, and optimising a very efficient solar-powered boat. We compete in the Solar Sport One Competition with the National Championship in Akkrum and the World Championship in Monaco. Last year, Solar Boat Twente had the fourth most efficient solar-powered boat in the open class of the World Championship. But how do we create such an efficient boat? Electric Superbike Twente has been an explorer of electric motorcycle racing since 2017. Our pursuit for speed was partially obstructed by the COVID-19 restrictions over the past two years. This resulted in two unfinished motorcycles with huge potentials. It is up to us, the fifth team, to extract this potential on the race track. For just over ten years Green Team Twente has been competing in the Shell Eco Marathon, a competition all about efficiency. This experience resulted in the team becoming World Champions in 2019, due to the pandemic this was the last year in which the race was held.
